GRANDMA HUGHES' ROLLS

We all love these rolls.  Grandma Hughes had a knack for making the lightest, best-tasting rolls in the world.  Cinnamon rolls with this recipe are yummy.

GRANDMA HUGHES' ROLLS
  • 1 package dry yeast (2-1/4 tsp.)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warmed canned milk
  • 3 well-beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 1/4 to 4 cups sifted flour
Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup water with 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix warm milk, melted butter to beaten eggs, sugar, salt and dissolved yeast.  Add all flour but 1/2 cup, using that amount to knead dough, until it is elastic.  Put in buttered bowl.  Let rise to double in bulk.  Roll out.  Form into rolls.  Let rise until light.  Bake about 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
