This is a real Hughes favorite. The recipe below is mostly how Grandma Hughes gave it to me. (I don't include the raw eggs in the recipe because of the raw egg concern these days.)
- 4 eggs, beaten well until fluffy
- 2 cups sugar
- Juice of 2 lemons
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 1 can canned milk
- 1/2 pint whipping cream (can be whipped)
- Medium-sized can crushed pineapple
- Maraschino cherries, diced
- Pecans, broken or chopped
- Medium Hershey bar, cut into small pieces
- Dash salt
- Whole milk
Combine all ingredients (except whole milk) in a 4-quart ice cream maker. Fill to the full line with the whole milk. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. ENJOY!
